What has your team accomplished?
Thus far our team has accomplished to keep the eggs for eleven days. We are ten days away from hatching day. We are so exited to be there when our babies hatch. We have also came up with our exhibit. Our team feels like it is a very fun and educational idea. We are currently working on the proof model, which we will need to finish by Thursday September 27. We are very exited for our final exhibit, and can not wait until we present it at the Ruban H. Fleet Science Center.
What is your team currently working on?
Our team is currently working on keeping our eggs alive. It is very important for our eggs to stay alive, because it would be very sad if our eggs did not survive. We are also working on our proof model. So far it has been very challenging because it is very hard for us to find the right materials. Our initial Idea was to have a 3-d egg. We were planning on opening the egg(fake egg) and putting a fake embryo in the egg. This way the kids would look at what the inside of an egg looked like, and the different stages of development. This was very hard to do since we could not find an egg big enough. We are currently working on coming up with a new project, however keeping the same concept of showing the development of an embryo.
What are your team's plans for the next week?
Our plans for the next week is to focus on the proof model. We want to have the proof model finished by Wednesday and will take the steps in order to have everything that we want incorporated into it. We want to make sure that it shows all of the parts of the chicken egg. From an embryo, to a 20 year old chicken. We want to incorporate the best visual aspect of our concept, so that people can see and understand then read and understand. This way we will reach a wider audience and inform people in a broader way.
What areas do you need help or assistance with?
We need assistance in developing the best possible way to explain our concept. We have a great idea, however, it is a little far fetched and difficult to come about. Meaning that we are going to have to think more realistically in order to have a good working exhibit. We went from a real looking egg, to a light box with the parts of the egg inside of it.
Do you see any obstacles that may prevent your team from completing their project on time?
The only obstacles that would prevent my team from completing our project is the lack of origination. Meaning that we would not have an organized idea of the project and then that would turn into an unorganized project. We need to be aiming for a project that is cool, fun and exiting for kids. Along with being able to get our point/concept across. To have the kids walking away with a better understanding of chicken eggs.
